Harmonia de Samba reached the height of popularity in 2001 when their pagode sound ruled not only Salvador, but swept the nation. The band’s popularity culminated with the marriage of its singer, Xandy, to the famed pagode dancer, Carla Perez, a linking of pagode royalty, the Bahian equivalent of Jay Z and Beyonce. The band has maintained a constant presence in Salvador over the last decade and their shows are a big draw.
